Itinerary:
Discover The Valley on a Fall hike! Tawatinaw Valley is one of the best lowland ski areas in Alberta. Only 1 hour north of Edmonton, next to the historic Landing Trail, Tawatinaw Valley spreads over 140 acres and boasts some of the most spectacular views outside the Rocky Mountains. Well-groomed runs featuring gullies, ravines, open hills and gentle slopes provide 20 km of cross-country trails, which we will hike around 10-11 kms of them in the nice fall colours (*this hike was changed from a more difficult fast hike, to just an intermediate hike.

See website for more information.

This intermediate hike is 11 km in length, which encompasses hiking up and down some steep slopes, but mainly flat and rolling grassy trails. .

**Please be aware the trail could be wet, or muddy in some sections. Wear good grip footwear.

**We are open to having dogs on the hike, however they must be leashed

Also please note that this is a group hike - therefore "superfast hikers" (>5.4 km/hr and above) should be prepared to wait for the group as a whole throughout the whole hike.
If you're not prepared to do this, then this will not be the event for you.

Similarily - "less than regular hikers" (<5.1 km/hr) - please find the time to get some training hikes in before this one, so that you are not "caught cold" doing this high moderate intermediate pace hike!

Bring walking aids (walking stick, hiking poles, etc) as desired.

If you are meeting at the carpool tomorrow morning, I will be there but unable to transport anyone. It looks like there are just enough willing drivers for members needing a ride to transport with. I will be picking up another passenger north of the city after we leave Northgate and only have room for the one passenger, since I have water sports gear in my hatchback that I'll be using after the hike later in the day.

Please be there at 8:50 am so the carpool can leave on time on or before 9:00 am to head to Tawatinaw Valley. Meet in the parking lot next to the Northgate transit depot near Wendy's restaurant. 97 Street & 137 Avenue in Edmonton. I will be driving a grey Corolla hatchback four door car and wearing a blue EOC baseball cap.

If meeting group at Tawatinaw and not carpooling from Northgate, we will convene at the closed front gates of the winter ski chalet before heading up to upper parking lot for xc ski trails as a car convoy group for the hike (*note there is no reliable cell service there)

We are requesting $2.00 per event in person, or our suggested annual donation of $20 be done electronically.
For your convenience, you can donate via Paypal or PC Banking directly to our Treasurer Donna M tr easurer@edmontonout doorclub.com
