Itinerary:
Intermediate hikers are all welcome, but please be advised that this hike has a brisk pace.

We will tour the single track mountain bike trails at Westpointe Ravine into West Terwillegar Park.

This walk is in a hidden gem ravine that drops quickly down steep single track trails paralleling the Anthony Henday down to the river.
If you have aspirations of doing the West Coast Trail, or any other rough terrain trails, particularly backpacking, please join me for this exploratory hike of the trails into South Terwillegar Park and back.

We will meet in the parking lot next to James McCrie Douglas Playground in the south parking lot of the Catholic School at 8:20 AM for a prompt departure at 8:30 AM (or earlier if the group’s all there). Look for Mark wearing (or holding) a blue EOC ball cap, or look up his profile picture on the volunteer page.

Bring some snacks, as we'll need them!

Anyone who is interested in this trail trek is welcome - you don't have to be training for anything, but this will have a brisk pace of around 5 km/hour, and will be through rougher single track terrain. We will also be experiencing very hot weather feeling close to +30 degrees Celsius!! Bring plenty of water and a snack.

Dogs are permitted on this event, but just a reminder (for dogs and humans alike) that this is a longer/tougher hike!

Please note that proper hiking footwear with good support and grip is essential, as some sections are steep and challenging, especially if underfoot conditions are wet and/or slippery.

Also please note that this is a group hike - therefore "superfast hikers" should be prepared to wait for the group as a whole throughout the whole hike.
If you're not prepared to do this, then this will not be the event for you.
Similarly - "less than superfast hikers" - please find the time to get some training hikes in before this one, so that you are not "caught cold" doing this one!

In summary, this is not an easy hike - there are lots of significant gradients throughout the whole hike and you will get a good workout! However, it is a very scenic area and well worth visiting.
