Itinerary: | |||||||
Revised route due to muddy, wet, boggy, and buggy
conditions: we headed west along the paved trails to St Albert
Trail then crossed over to the north side of the river and
headed back east. At Boudreau bridge, we crossed over to the
south side then ventured leisurely through St Albert Botanic
Park - fantastic gardens on 5 acres of land.
Please read all details in red below and and event details, including all Covid-19 group precautions before signing up! All activities are being offered in full compliance with current provincial and federal COVID standards (links below for more information). We will be hiking in staggered groups of four. At times we will be two abreast (box shape with 6 feet or more apart), and other times we will need to be distanced while in single file and step off the trail or pathway briefly to let others pass safely. ----- We will hike the nature trails at Riverlot 56 Natural Area and Kingswood Park and go for about 10km, approx 4.5-5km/hour. We will meet at the Kingswood Day Area at 10:00AM then head across Poundermaker Road to explore Riverlot 56 Natural Area. Once we finish over there, we will head back across Poundmaker Road then continue along the Kingswood trail. There is a pleasant wooded loop trail through here. Most of the trails are fairly flat but there are a couple of small hills in the Riverlot 56 trail system.

How to Get There: | |||||||
Event Directions: | Kingswood Day Area located at 395 Sir Winston
Churchill Avenue.
Access Kingswood Day Area (part of Red Willow Park) off of Sir Winston Churchill Avenue in St. Albert, in between Sturgeon Rd. and Poundmaker Road. Or you can use a different access to the park (some info says to get there off of Sturgeon Rd). Use any entrance you like and meet at my blue car. I will be wearing a blue EOC baseball cap. There is also a playground called Kingswood Park that your GPS may send you to if you just put "Kingswood Park" into it. It's best to follow these directions instead.
