The Cooking Lake / Blackfoot Provincial
Recreation Area is a
large area located to the East of Edmonton near
Elk Island,
with an extensive
network of scenic trails - see the info below:
We will head there for
up to 4 hours or so of exploring! This is the
same staging area where the Canadian Birkie Ski
Festival starts from (in February), and we hope to
bike around the course.
We are meeting at the Blackfoot Lake trailhead at 9:45 am.
Bring sufficient water/snacks, and suitable
clothing/footwear
for anything the weather might throw at us!
(including
waterproofs...)
| |||||||
| |||||||
How to Get There: | |||||||
Event Directions: | From Edmonton, head east on Hwy 16 (Yellowhead
Highway)
and past Elk Island.
A short distance beyond Elk Island and the turnoff for the Ukranian Village, you will see a sign for the Blackfoot Lake trailhead on the right (south). Follow this road to the parking lot. | ||||||
