Itinerary:

Come join me for a day trip to Red Deer to explore the Waskasoo Park walking trails.

We will park at the Visitor’s Centre off of Highway #2 (see the red #1 on the map link above) and north of 32nd Street. We will head north through the trees at Heritage Ranch then cross the Red Deer River and head east along the north side of the river past Great Chief Park and Bower Ponds then we’ll cross over the river at 67th Street Bridge. We will head back west through Kerry Wood Nature Centre (see the red #15 on the map link above) and have a lunch and/or coffee stop at Dose Coffee Riverfront location. We will then continue west back to the Visitor’s Center.

**The hike will be about 3-3.5 hours (13-14km at a moderate pace) on paved terrain (the lunch and/or coffee stop will be around the 2-2.5 hour mark).

We will be carpooling from Edmonton. **We will meet up at the Southgate LRT station parking lot on the south side of the LRT building at 9:00AM and depart by 9:10AM.** The LRT parking lot is east of 111th Street between Whitemud Drive and 51st Avenue.

(Please note that if it’s snowing, we’ll stay in town and go hiking at Whitemud Ravine.)
