Itinerary:
Earth Hour is a global symbolic gesture to raise awareness about climate change. People in cities across the globe have been asked to turn their lights off between 8:30PM and 9:30PM on March 28th, in order to show their support for this cause.

To celebrate Earth Hour, we will take a short, early evening hike in the river valley and then have a picnic at Emily Murphy Park.

We will be meeting at the parking lot next to the Groad Road Bridge, on the west side of Emily Murphy Park. The group will first scout out and claim a nearby picnic site. (The picnic sites at the park are available on a first-come basis, and we will select an appropriate site based on its availability). Once we choose our spot, we will then leave for a short hike, heading west from Emily Murphy Park to Hawrelak Park. After a short rest at the Buena Vista Footbridge, we will head back to to Emily Murphy Park and return to our chosen picnic site.

The hiking portion of the evening is optional - those who wish to may also choose to stay in Emily Murphy Park, where you can help light a campfire at the picnic site and hang out there until the rest of the group returns (at approximately 8:30PM).

Once the group has returned to Emily Murphy Park, we will hang out in front of a warm campfire for an hour or so.
