Backpacking Conditioning (4/19/2014)

PRE-REGISTRATION & PAYMENT REQUIRED: Once you've reviewed the event details, and decided you'd like to join us, you MUST sign up at the bottom of this page. You will then make your payment for this event at the venue, NOT in advance to the EOC.

You are STRONGLY encouraged to read this page in its entirety before signing up. If you'd like to attend, we ask that you abide by our rules and procedures as a time/cost saving process (with an end result of keeping membership free and lower cost events).

Itinerary:
My philosophy for conditioning is a combination of endurance, weight in backpacks and hills. We will begin with endurance training and weight in our backpacks.

If you have not been too busy over the winter I would suggest a day pack with light weight and then if you have been busy push yourself and increase your weight.

This week we will meet at the Kinsman Sport Centre overflow parking lot and hike to Wm Hawrelak Park. If you are planning a backpacking trip this summer I encourage you start filling your backpack to start getting use to the weight.

This event is the third of many conditioning hikes leading to a backpacking/camping event in July in Kaninaskis country

Follow the road past the Kinsmen Field House to the right, drive along the river's edge until you are almost under the High Level Bridge. On your left, in the Pitch & Putt area, you will arrive at the overflow parking lot.

Notes:
If you are bringing your dog please ensure you bring water for him. Also I will ask that you keep him/her on a leash at all times.
