Itinerary:

Come join me for a weekend hiking and camping trip to Miquelon Lake Provincial Park. Click here and here for more info. Please note that I have never been here before but heard it's very nice.

Miquelon Lake is at the south end of the Cooking Lake Moraine. Miquelon Lake Campground is well maintained and it has several hiking trails that wind through the Aspen Parkland and Boreal Forest along with several marshes that are a summer home to over 200 bird species. This park is another bird watchers paradise and a breeding ground for two Gull species. It was once designated as a bird sanctuary. There are excellent view points with floating docks that can be found on a Marsh next to the campground.

The Miquelon Lake Campground offers a clean sandy beach, picnic shelters, picnic tables, public phone, showers, water, fire wood, swimming areas, play grounds, hand boat launch for canoes and small water craft. Miquelon Lake is too shallow for motor boats so no annoying boat noise. The lake is good for swimming as the high salinity makes the water very clear and keeps the algae down.

We will stay overnight and go hiking in the area. The trails are located along the park’s knob and kettle terrain is a 10km interconnecting trail system. Trail loops vary in length from 1.7km to 10km, providing many opportunities for recreation and nature exploration.
----------
IMPORTANT DETAILS REGARDING REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT:To register for this event, please sign up on the waiting list and then pay for your spot as soon as possible. Once payment has been received by the EOC, I will move people to the registered list for the event in the order that everyone pays, and NOT in the order that everyone signs up. This event will have a maximum of 6 participants, including me.**

I have booked 2 adjacent campsites (site #s 270 and 271 - see arrow on the map above) at the Miquelon Lake campground. The 2 campsites are located side by side and we can park our cars there (a max of 1 car/site but there is overflow parking at the campground). The maximum occupancy for each of these sites is 2 tents.

***Prior to the event, please e-mail me, answering the following questions:
1. Is there another person participating in this event with whom you intend to share your tent with? Who?
2. Do you have a tent that you would be able to bring to the event to share with others? If so, what is the capacity of your tent?
I will be assigning tenting partnerships a few days prior to the even for those who need them. When assigning these partnerships, I will do my best to place people of the same gender in a tent.

GUESTS: If you have an adult guest that you would like to bring along to the event, please have them register as a member of the EOC so that they can sign up for this event on their own. (This approach is easier for me. Guests cannot sign up on waitlists for EOC events.)
