ITINERARY:

Friday - We will leave Edmonton in the afternoon Friday, July 15th, 2011, and head to Nordegg. We will be staying at The Shunda Creek Hostel for two nights. I love the Shunda Creek hostel for its fantastic atmosphere, great view of the mountains, hot-tub, bbq, and its welcoming fire pit for our evening tea time.

We will be staying in a co-ed dorm rooms. Bedding will be provided and sleeping bags are NOT permitted. There is a well equipped kitchen with appliances, pots and pans, dishes to cook your own food for the weekend. There is running water, hot showers and electricity in this hostel.

Saturday - We will leave the hostel early in the morning and head to Coliseum mountain trail. Coliseum Mountain provides a magnificent 360 degree panorama that accompanies you the entire length of its spine along the top of the "coliseum." Do not forget to bring your cameras along, or you will be kicking yourself on the way back!

Coliseum Mountain was home to the first fire watch tower in Alberta, all that is left now is the foundation. The trail leading to the summit has been there for almost a 100 years and was once used by locals of the area to bring mail and supplies to the fire watch tower. The trail is in pretty decent shape and switchbacks up the first mountain at a fairly decent grade for hiking.

After our hike, we will head back to the hostel, relax, and have a nice supper. Feel free to bring something to bbq if you like as there is a fire pit and a bbq. After dinner, we send the hard-core athletes for a walk in the neighborhood while we sit in the hot-tub, enjoy God sent drinks, watch the beautiful stars, and hear interesting stories.

Sunday - Sunday morning we will check out and leave the hostel early and head to Siffleur Falls. Siffleur Falls is a nice short hike in David Thompson Country. The trail goes along the river for seven kilometers, and privides amazing view of three magnificent waterfalls. We will have a quick lunch at the third fall and will head back to our vehicles.

On the way back we could stop at Nordegg for an early dinner or go back directly to Edmonton
