We have an exciting weekend lined up. The plan is to leave Edmonton at around 5:30 pm on Friday, arriving at the historic Black Cat Guest Ranch around 9pm. We will spend Saturday morning hiking to Solomon Mountain (11km return, 4-6 hours, 570m elevation gain), returning to the Ranch in the afternoon. Saturday evening will be free-time. The central lodge area features a large living room with comfortable chairs, a fireplace, piano, and lots of books. Adjacent to the living room is a games lounge with dart boards, table games and guest bar.
On Sunday morning, we will check out of the Ranch and then hike to the Prine Mine adits, a less frequently-used trail (14km, 4-6 hours, 500m elevation gain). The Ranch has graciously ribboned the trail for us so we know how to get there.
Afterwards, we will stop in Hinton briefly and then make our way home.

All meals will be provided by the ranch. Liquor is not included but you are welcome to bring your own beverages for the weekend.

Note that these hikes are conditional on the weather and that we need to be flexible should the weather not be cooperative. This could even mean not doing the hike(s) if safety is compromised. However, the Solomon Mountain trail lies in a wind path that is open to the sun and the snow from this area usually melts quickly.

The rooms are single bed-double occupancy and you are free to make your own roommate arrangements; otherwise, the coordinator will be happy to assign one for you; no assurance can be made it will be a same-sex roommate, although every effort will be made to do so; a cot to make triple occupancy is also a possibility.

Also note the coordinator has not done these hikes before but is looking forward to doing them.
