Waskehegan Orienteering Weekend (WOW)

This is your chance to improve your orienteering c.v. (contours and vegetation)

Where – Waskehegan Trailhead of the Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area.

When – Saturday June 1st and Sunday June 2nd.

This complimentary program was made possible by Edmonton Overlanders Orienteering Club & Kids Run Wild, in collaboration with the Alberta Orienteering Association, and is funded by Every Kid Can Play(EKCP) Program. The Every Kid Can Play (EKCP) Program is designed to address affordability and accessibility challenges to sport, physical activity, and recreation (SPAR) programs for Alberta kids and their families. The Government of Alberta, Sports, Physical Activity and Recreation (SPAR) program supports Alberta’s non-profit sport system to deliver affordable access to sport and recreation opportunities.

There will be no charge but to estimate how many maps to print etc. we will need people to sign up and tell us their approximate skill and experience level. The event is open to everyone. Non members will need to sign a waiver. Register HERE

What – There will be exercises for all levels of orienteering ability from complete beginner to advanced. The following links provide more information on each session.

Morning Sessions begin at 9:30am. Afternoon sessions begin at 1:30pm


Required Items to Bring:

What to wear: come prepared for the weather (and what might happen). Sturdy shoes. Long pants and long sleeves.

What to bring: hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, spare shoes and socks. Water bottle. Snacks. Lunch in a small backpack.
