This will be a *once a month more challenging
Thursday
hike designed to get us
in shape and geared up for backpacking, or hiking
trips with the EOC over the next year (including
snow shoe trips). Each
week we will
hike in the river valley area on trails that will
help condition us, leading up to
enjoyable weekends potentially exploring the
Rockies and our own Alberta "back yard" when we
can together (*This event being this months
harder of the weekly Thursday hikes). This hike is rated as a D4 difficulty because some of the trails have a steep elevation incline sections and may have tree roots, icy or muddy sections, loose surface, narrow trails. Bringing hiking poles or a walking stick is advised, *plus a backpack for fastpack training if you wish! Meet at Westridge Wolf Willow Country Club and Community League at 6:50 pm. We will then do a higher difficulty paced jaunt through the single track trails in the ravines around Westridge, Patricia Heights, and Wolf Willow Area. Be prepared to get a little muddy. Good footwear with traction is a must. The paths are single track technical mountain biking tracks with constant elevation changes. :) We have classed this hike as "higher intermediate" because there are some steep sections where the trail rises and descends (including a tough section of switchbacks), which will prove challenging to many of us, but we will prevail! Dogs must
be
leashed on this hike. We will meet at Westridge Wolf Willow Country Club and Community League parking lot at 6:50 PM for introductions and questions, and then we will depart at 6:55 PM sharp. Please ensure you have good foot wear and are well hydrated. Everyone is welcome even if you are not interested in fastpacking. Look for the guy with the blue EOC cap, or red touque Please feel free to send donations to our Treasurer or event organizer electronically. | |||||||
