Itinerary:

There are almost 85km of hiking trails at Cooking Lake/Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, so let's check out some of the trails accessed from the Islet Lake trailhead!

We will walk for around 2.5-3 hours (~10km). I am thinking of the taking the Highline, Lost Lake, and Push Lake trails. We will have short breaks along the way and a slightly longer lunch/snack break at the Lost Lake Shelter. Here is a link for your info: Cooking Lake/Blackfoot guide

**CARPOOL LOCATION: We will meet at the Mill Creek Ravine UPPER parking lot accessed via 95A Street, north of Whyte Avenue at 9:55am.
It is accessed via the west side of the Mill Creek Bridge. If you’re using Google Maps, look up Mill Creek Outdoor Pool. We will be parked in the first parking lot on your left as you come down the hill. If you arrive at the pool, you’ve gone too far so just come part way back up the hill. (If you decide to meet at the event rather than the carpool location, you MUST let me know ahead of time.)

**For those meeting at the event, we will start around 11:15am.

To recognize me at the meeting place, I will be driving a blue Hyundai and wearing a royal blue EOC baseball cap - check out my profile on the volunteers page so you can recognize me.

**Please note that this out-of-town hike will be weather dependent.

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $23.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Saturday, November 23, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
