Itinerary: | |||||||
Meet at the parking lot for Dawson Park at 12:45 PM for a prompt 1:00 PM departure. I will have a royal blue EOC baseball cap hanging from the antenna of my Jeep so you can recognize me. This hike will be at a brisk pace for approx. 20 KM's. We will take a mixture of paved and gravel trails and maybe some single track for fun, as well as going up the Royal Glenora stairs. We will head west on the north side of the river through Riverdale and into the downtown. We can take the funicular down to the river valley before heading west to Groat Bridge. Once we cross the bridge we will stop for a snack in Emily Murphy Park. Afterwards, we will head back through several parks to Forest Heights before returning to our vehicles. This hike is recommended for those attending the Edmonton Marathon event in August. The event duration will be approximately 4 hours. Note that dogs are very welcome on this hike, but please note City of Edmonton bylaws re on- leash/off-leash areas.
