So we leave Edmonton at 8:00 am to go to Canmore. We spend the rest of the day hiking/snowshoeing depending on snow conditions. We have supper at the Canmore Hostel, or we eat at a restaurant. On Sunday again we eat out or eat in the hostel then spend the day at a Alberta Parks free avalanche training session. Then we come back to Edmonton. I reserved a bed ($30.00) at the Canmore HI Hostel I recommend you do the same as it's very nice. You will need a bag lunch and beverages for the course as it is 4 to 5 hours long on Sunday.

Required Items to Bring:
Everything you need to spend the day outside during daylight hours IN THE WINTER plus a headlight or a flashlight. Without appropriate outdoor gear you will not be allowed to come with us & that is for safety reasons. Snow shoes & microspikes are a must (I have extras so if you need them please book them with me soon). A daypack with 1000 calories (I.e..:granola bars/ chocolate)minimum 1 liter of water. Some matches extra mitts/gloves, extra top (like an extra sweater).Appropriate boots, hat(s), gloves/mitts | | Recommended Items to Bring:

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $232.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Thursday, November 21, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.

This trip is mostly about the Alberta Parks free avalanche training but I figure that if I'm going to go all the way to Canmore I might as well do some stuff outside & since I'm going to Canmore I might as well look for like minded people to travel with & do outdoor stuff. We could agree to eat Saturday night and Sunday breakfast at the hostel as long as we keep it simple & healthy. I have not chosen a hiking trail yet & will look into it soon. It will not be very difficult & I picture it being 3 to 5 hours long.
