**NOTE as of 8:45 AM Sunday: I know there is a special air quality alert re: the smoke in the air. I just wanted to mention that we will be: a) hiking at a slower pace, b) probably cut the hike short, c) skip out on the loop and miss out on the long hill to Riverside Drive. Also dogs are allowed on this hike but if you don't think they can handle the smoke, I'd leave them at home.

See you at 11:45am at Emily Murphy Park (west end of the park by Groat Bridge). Please note that Groat Road may be closed (it was on Saturday, I believe north of River Valley Road). Please allow enough time to get to the park.

We will meet in the parking lot at Emily Murphy Park (NW corner nearest the Groat Road bridge) at 11:45 AM for registration, leaving at 12:00 NOON.

The hike will begin by heading west into Hawrelak Park and crossing the river at the Buena Vista footbridge. We will continue through Buena Vista Park up the hill to Riverside Drive, continue back down into MacKinnon Ravine, then cross Groat Bridge over the river and return to Emily Murphy Park.

To recognize me at the meeting place, I will be driving a silver Toyota Rav4 and wearing a yellow EOC baseball cap, or check out my profile on the volunteers page.

Emily Murphy Park is at Groat Road and Emily Murphy Park Road NW.

To get to Emily Murphy Park from Gateway Blvd/Calgary Trail: head west on 82nd Ave/ Whyte Ave, then turn right on 110 St, then turn left on Saskatchewan Drive.
Keep to the right and take Emily Murphy Park Rd., turn right into Emily Murphy Park.

If you are coming from the north on Groat Road: take the exit toward Parks Area, turn left then right onto Emily Murphy Park Rd, destination will be on the left.

Once in the park turn left at the T intersection and meet in parking lot near the Groat Road Bridge.
