Itinerary:
Candy Cane Lane was started over 35 years ago by a small group of residents in the Crestwood Community who set up impressive light displays on their houses. Their Christmas spirit spread to other residents up and down 148 street, from 100 Ave. to 92 Ave., and today more than 10 city blocks are officially considered part of Candy Cane Lane. These light displays are all done on a volunteer basis - residents pay all the costs, and there is no commercial sponsorship of Candy Cane Lane of any kind. Visitors have also been asked over the last few years to bring non-perishable food items to drop off to the Edmonton Food Bank - a massive amount of food has been collected this way.

Candy Cane Lane officially opens Saturday December 8 and lights up until midnight January 2nd (although this year there is some construction along Candy Cane Lane, and the city has been given until December 14th to be ready).

MP Stables is offering public horse-drawn sleigh rides for $10 per person. Those wishing to tour Candy Cane Lane by sleigh can try to secure a spot at the start of the event. MP Stables offers the public rides on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those of us opting to experience Candy Cane Lane by foot will begin our journey after enjoying a cup of complimentary hot chocolate or coffee in the lobby of St. Andrew's United Church.
