Itinerary:
As it is almost the longest day of the year, let's do a scenic evening hike outside the city and enjoy the start of the weekend!

Please note that this event takes place on Friday EVENING.

Come and explore the scenic trails at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area, west of Edmonton. There are four interlinking trails - Indian Ridge, Natures Way, Woodland Lookout and Cranberry Corner trails, in total around 14km.
However, depending upon group preferences, weather, and daylight etc, we may not be doing all of the 14km.
I am thinking that all being well, we will walk for at least 2 hours - to be confirmed on the day.

The terrain is mainly gently rolling hills, but there are one or two steeper ones too. There are picnic tables and outhouses along the trails.

There will be a carpool for this event if required - meeting at 6:00pm at the overflow parking lot for the West Edmonton Mall, on the north side of 90 Avenue, approximately by 175 Street.
Look for me with my grey Hyundai wagon, and I will be wearing a yellow EOC cap so you can spot me.
Although it will be Friday rush-hour, we will need carpoolers to get to the meeting place in time, so we can leave by 6:15pm at the latest.
If you are travelling by transit, remember that the carpool location is on the opposite side of the WEM from the transit centre, and you will need to allow approx 15 mins to walk through the Mall to the carpool.
I want to arrive at Chickakooo by 7:00pm, so 6:15pm will be the carpool departure time - and we cannot wait for latecomers.

We will meet at 7:00pm at Chickakoo, and be on the trails by 7:15pm. Remember it is almost midsummer, so it should be daylight until well after 9pm.
However, just in case we run out of daylight (eg. really overcast skies) please bring a flashlight / headlamp.

We will need to stay fairly close together as a group, so any real "speed demons" or "slowcoaches" will either need to slow down or speed up as appropriate, or find another event.
Please note that the hike may be postponed / cut short in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms.
Be prepared for any weather conditions!
