Itinerary:
WITH THE THREAT OF RAIN MOST PEOPLE CANCELLED EXCEPT FOR 2. LETS ENJOY A HIKE IN THE RIVER VALLEY. MEET AT EMILY MURPHY PART AT 11 AM AND WE WILL GO ON A 2-2.5 HOUR HIKE.

Enjoy a moderate paced day hike in the Cooking Lake - Blackfoot Provincial Park. The 97 square kilometre Recreational area contains forests, pastures and wetlands in glacial moriane terrain. Check out the Trail Map for more info.

We will hike approximately 10km-12km, depending on the group & the weather. The terrain is mostly flat with some rolling hills. We will stop at the half way point for some lunch, we will hike to Meadow Shelter and maybe beyond, depending on time and how the trails are.

**Please note that we will be meeting up at the carpool location at the south east corner of the Bonnie Doon Mall parking lot at 11:00am & leaving there at 11:15am SHARP! We should arrive at the Waskehegan Staging Area around 11:45am if you are meeting at the event.

Also please note that the duration mentioned above includes the travel time to get there as well. I will bring some maps for those who are driving so you can find the staging area.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Washehegan Staging Area is located 24 km east of Sherwood Park, south of Hwy. #16 (directly south of Elk Island Nat'l Pk on RR#210).
From Sherwood Park, the highway turns into Wye Road (a.k.a. Hwy. #630). Turn north (left) onto Range Road #210.

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $20.88 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Tuesday, December 3, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
