Itinerary:
Kick off this year’s Bike Month in style. Ride with EBC Edmonton Bicycle Commuters to the symphony!

EBC and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra are partnering to offer $25 tickets (incl. all fees) to EBC members for the June 1 performance of Pieter Wispelwey. Tickets are $35 for non members. EBC is offering tickets and a membership for $35.00.

Purchase tickets directly through EBC here: http://edmontonbikes.ca/calendar/more/bike_to_the_symphony_2011

This special ESO performance will be a must for anyone who loves the cello. Mr Wispelwey opens the performance with Bach’s Suite No. 1 in G Major for Unaccompanied Cello, and the second half features ESO Music Director Bill Eddins accompanying on piano. This concert is a unique opportunity to experience Mr. Wispelwey’s versatility, phenomenal technique, and remarkable interpretations of cello repertoire.

Tickets will be on sale only until May 5. A limited number of tickets are available, so hurry to get yours.
If your membership has expired or you haven’t become a member, you can buy a combo: a new individual membership and symphony ticket for $35.

On June 1, we’ll gather in the parking lot between Da Capo Caffe and Redbike at 6pm (8738 109 St), two of the event sponsors. Da Capo will have an espresso cart outside, so you can enjoy a cup while you mingle with ESO musicians (including resident conductor Lucas Waldin, on his Redbike ride) before we ride to the Winspear at 6:30pm.

SINCE THERE WILL BE MORE PEOPLE THAN JUST OUR GROUP, LOOK FOR ME WEARING THE BRIGHT YELLOW EOC HAT. I'LL TRY TO WAIT AS NEAR TO THE FRONT DOOR OF REDBIKE STORE AS I CAN. I WILL HAVE MY CELL WITH ME TOO, SO CALL IF YOU CANNOT FIND ME.

As we arrive at the Winspear (around 7pm), more ESO musicians will welcome us with fanfare. Redbike has donated prizes for this event as well.

The concert will begin at 7:30pm and end around 9:30pm. Join us outside the Founders’ Room for a backstage tour following the performance.
EBC will provide bike parking directly in front of the Winspear concert hall, with a dedicated security guard.
The Winspear does not have a dress code, but please try to dress up for the ride anyway! You can also change once we arrive at the Winspear, if you prefer, or if the weather is poor.
Concert program: J.S. Bach: Suite No. 1 in G Major for Unaccompanied Cello Lalo: Cello Concerto Martinù: Sonata No. 2 for Cello and Piano Schubert: Fantasy in C major
