Itinerary: | |||||||
We will leave for Lake Louise on Friday afternoon (after work or earlier) and head to the Lake Louise HI-hostel. We will have two days to cross country ski to our hearts' content, shop, eat out and best of all, go dancing across the street at the bar. Also, the hostel has an ice climbing wall; if you are interested in checking this out, you will need to make arrangements in advance of the trip with the hostel directly. Downhill skiing at Lake Louise is also an option for Saturday, but those interested in downhill must make their own arrangements for transportation to and from the ski hill. The cross-country skiing choices will be easy to moderate in difficulty. Potential routes are listed here. The trails we will ultimately ski on will be determined closer to the date and decisions about this will depend on the current snow conditions. ACCOMMODATION: We will stay Friday and Saturday night at the Lake Louise Hostel. The hostel has many facilities, including: Internet access/Phone/Café/Campfire pit/Parking/Meeting room/Common room/bicycle storage/Laundry/Library/Elevator/Linen included/Lockers/Luggage storage/Meals available/Sauna/Self catering kitchen/Tourist info/TV room/Wheelchair access/Winter access/Free WI-FI/Restaurant on site MEALS: You will need to bring: Food for breakfasts and lunches Money for dinner EQUIPMENT for Cross-Country Skiing You will need to bring your own equipment to Lake Louise for these activities. This equipment can be rented from many vendors in Edmonton, including MEC and Totem Outfitters. Local vendors in Lake Louise might also be able to rent you this equipment. As a courtesy, please make sure that you make rental arrangements in advance, so that those you are traveling with don't have to wait around for you! Please be sure to read the cancellation statement below.

The HI-Lake Louise Alpine Center is the second establishment after the bridge, on your left. A map to the hostel can be obtained here. If you get lost, the hostel's number is 1-866-762-4122.
