This was a fantastic experience. Our camping stall was spacious and located in a beautiful area. Ryan, the owner, was very hospitable. The rafting was excellent and the guides were AWESOME. Mostly because two of them saved me from taking a long swim down the Red Deer River. I declared that I loved them soon after. We had a chance to sleep in on Saturday morning because lunch was served at 11AM. No real rush to get moving. Then we got all our rafting gear on, had a brief safety talk and demo, then jumped in to inflatable’s. The water was beautiful and definitely cold. The rapids were all named appropriately, my favorite the Nationals B and the guide entertained sufficiently with many jokes that were really not that good but Julie’s were worse. Graeme and Julie got a chance to try a two person inflatable Kayak as well as a six person raft. The two person kayak keeps you close to the water and there was little chance to get dry. In the end only two of the five participants had to be rescued from the water but three took a longer swim than planned. Speak to those that attended for details. Our Steak dinner was just what we needed at the end of the day. We had no rain all weekend and Saturday night was much warmer than Friday night. Aaron promised to get me all the details on why but I have not seen them yet. The Jamboree was less than we had anticipated but next year there may be Folk music which would be fantastic. Some of us explored the Ya ha Tinda on Sunday. Worth a gander. It is definitely Cowboy Country.
