Sun, Oct 30 2011 - Exploring McTaggart Nature Reserve (View Original Event Details)
|
Some might say that it was a Triple Dammed Day but the weather was great , the people fabulous and the hike was interesting and exciting. After a double dam dare, we crossed two beaver dams into the area seldom traveled in a quest to reach the far end. At a point below Twin Brooks, after crossing a third dam, we met a fellow who told us that we were standing on a house. The House was owned by Sandy McTaggart whose name it is that The McTaggart Reserve is named after. It turns out that this concrete structure was a summer home of the McT family but was seldom used and often broken into. So they had it buried in dirt and the land was donated to the U 0f A for research. Some day the house may again be opened, for research, but at present the only clue is the hill that we were standing on and a small view of a concrete form. What a great day. Thanks for coming.
