The rain held off for our morning at the zoo!
We viewed several of the attractions.
In the Makira Outpost we viewed some lemurs, in Carnivore Alley we saw swift foxes, snow leopards, Siberian tigers, Arctic wolves just to name a few. In the Inner Zoo section we looked at some emus, waterfowl, a variety of monkeys, alpaca, an otter, red pandas, guinea pigs, & more. In the Saito Centre we viewed the primates which included snakes, boas, & pythons….creped me out! We also observed tortoises, iguanas, chinchillas, sloths, armadillos, & more. In the African Veldt exhibit we saw zebras & in the back paddocks we saw larger hoofed animals such as bighorn sheep.
We also go to see Lucy the elephant play with a huge light-weight rubber tire!
Some of us also watched some flight demonstrations in the Birds of Prey area – we saw a bald eagle, peregrine, falcon, & snowy owl doing a few tricks!
