Itinerary:
Please note despite starting at Big Bear Park, it is believed that we will have no bears to contend with on this hike....;)

The starting point is 109 St NW at Big Bear Park - located approx 1.5 kms south of 23 Ave.

DIRECTIONS FROM 23 AVENUE:
From 23 Ave, go south on 109 St for 1 km until you see a park on the right side (note there is another park before this, don't stop there).
At the 4-way stop with 19 Ave, continue south (straight ahead) and remain on 109 St.
Continue south another 0.5 km as the road starts to curve east.
You will pass a Mormon Church on the left (east) side, and a short distance after the church, turn right at the first street - this is still 109 St.
Park on your right side (west side) alongside the park - opposite the houses.
If you didn't turn right, you would be going east on 11 Av (wrong way!).

Meet at 6:50 PM for a 7:00 PM departure - I will be wearing my blue EOC cap.

We will leave Big Bear Park and descend into the ravine, and follow the trail beside the Blackmud Creek, winding our way until we pass under the Anthony Henday bridge, and travel a bit further until we are in the Blackburn area where we will connect with the neighbourhood gravel pathway, and finally end up at the Ellerslie Gift and Garden. There is some rough terrain and encroaching bush on the single track trails, so it's recommended to wear long hiking pants.

We will return via some sidewalks in the Blackburn area and re-connect to the trail back to the cars.

Total distance is about 8 kms. There are some hills to negotiate, but the overall the terrain will be moderate!
